HONDA JADE 2014
Here's a look at the Honda Jade. This Chinese-market only MPV was introduced in China in September last year but sales will only begin this year.
"Speaking of new-value products, we unveiled the Concept M at the Shanghai Motor Show last year. The mass-production model will go on sale this year as a vehicle that offers the fun of driving and comfortable space at the same time. Please keep your expectations high for this model," said Honda Motor's CEO Takanobu Ito at the 2014 Beijing International Auto Show earlier today.

When the Jade was first previewed as the Concept M, many say that this model is a thinly disguised version of Honda's upcoming third generation Stream, a speculation which Honda did not confirm or deny.
"I am not familiar with the Stream, which is an overseas model. The Jade is only available in China and is tailored to meet the requirements of Chinese buyers," said a Chinese Honda associate when asked about the connection between the two models.
However he did explain that although the Jade is currently only available in China, sales in overseas markets is possible, without elaborating any further.
While the Jade's product concept appears to be very similar to that of a Stream, we found out that the two are actually quite different once you begin inspecting the product. For one, the Jade places greater emphasis on style over form, while the Stream strives to achieve a good balance between functionality and maintaining a sporty silhouette.

The Stream is a 5+2 seater, with the third row best suited for children rather than adults. The Jade however, has a significantly shorter roofline, one that tapers off quite sharply towards the rear the car. It is difficult to see how even a child above pre-school age can fit into the third row seats without severely bending their necks and crouching their legs.
For Interior Design is not in doubt Honda Jade using quality matrial to coat the dashboard and also chair and unfortunately for the roof of the cabin is not too high so as to passengers rearmost row occupied only suitable for children only. The dashboard design is very cool and wrapped in a luxurious interior is typical Honda.
Lexus RC F Sport (2015)
Long a purveyor of dependable but somewhat dreary luxury cars Lexus
continues to reinvent itself. Products like the limited-production (and
totally awesome) LFA supercar as well as enthusiast-focused F Sport
models demonstrate the brand’s newfound passion. And this blue beauty is
writing the next chapter in Lexus’ journey.
This is the RC F, a high-performance two-door car and arguably a
product the company has needed for years. We think it’s got both the
style and hardware to attract a lot of attention. Look at it; this thing
is STUNNING!
It’s based on the RC Coupe that was revealed at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show back in November, though this car features a number of important changes.
Up front the first thing you’ll notice is the brand’s signature
spindle grille and here it’s filled in with a black mesh texture. The
car’s also got separate lights under the main headlamp assemblies, a
flourish we saw, of course, on the 2014 IS sport sedan.
It’s hard to tell, but the RC F actually has a taller hood than the RC
Coupe, and for good reason. This thing is motivated by an eight-cylinder
engine, though we don’t have any specifics about it at this time. What
we can share is this: Lexus claims it’s the most powerful V8 performance
car they’ve ever developed. That means it’s got to be more muscular
than the 416 ponies found in today’s IS F. But will that be enough to
keep up with cars like the new BMW M4? At this point we just don’t know…
The RC F’s flanks highlight some unique sculptural elements, complete
with a fender vent. Additionally, three wheel designs are available.
They all have 10 spokes and span 19 inches.
Out
back is a speed-sensitive spoiler. It’s designed to stabilize the car
at higher velocities. It deploys at 50 miles an hour and tucks away at
speeds less than 25. Stacked quad tailpipes provide an exit for spent
combustion gasses and look really cool!
The RC F’s interior is a lot like the cockpit of an IS, though it
does have some unique flourishes. The gauges are different, as are the
seats, pedals and steering wheel.
Additional details about this exciting new high-performance Lexus
two-door will be released in just a few short days, so make sure you
come back to AutoGuide.com for the full story. And don’t miss our COMPLETE coverage of the 2014 North American International Auto Show. Press days start on Monday, January 13.

The additional 5.9 inches in the wheelbase not only increases the knee and leg space in the back but also greatly augments the athletic presence of the sedan. With its compelling design and premium interior ambience, the long wheelbase Q70 broadens Infiniti's offerings for those who desire enhanced spaciousness and versatility, appealing to the sporty sedan fan who also requires executive levels of interior room."We know our customers desire more choice and prestige. The long wheelbase Q70 is our offer to them," said Vincent Gillet, Vice President, Marketing, Infiniti Motor Company Limited. "The Q70 delivers on all accounts - attention to detail, highly crafted materials, class-leading rear roominess, comfortable ride, and superior levels of interior quietness."
Seductive lines, dynamic curves
The refined
elegance of the Q70 takes on a new dramatic design which gives the
premium sedan an even more upscale image. Its flowing, emotional lines
evoke a premium sleekness.
At first glance, the new headlights
impress immediately. Infiniti's signature LED headlights imply inner
intelligence and human insight, leaving an unforgettable impression. The
distinctive headlights accentuate the new double arch grille, which now
takes on a more three-dimensional look due to the elaborate detail of
the high-quality waved mesh finish and chrome surround. The same solid
feel is echoed in the new front bumper with integrated fog lights,
giving the Q70 a dignified presence on road.
From the front, a
strong body line rises from the grille, flowing through the bodyside
like a wave and blending into the shape of the new rear LED combination
lights, forming a compelling profile that highlights the Q70's sporty
stance.
At the rear, the new design of the tail lights creates a
horizontal flow in motion while the high-quality lighting signature
evokes a fresh and classy image. The top line of the trunk lid has been
flattened while the rear bumper has been slimmed down to create a longer
and lower visual impression, further emphasizing the premium sedan's
sporty and powerful styling. The chrome rear finisher adds a touch of
class to the entire rear view.
The Sport version features a
specially designed front bumper that gives an even lower and wider
stance, and 20-inch wheels and tires, while the lower part of the rear
bumper is finished in high-gloss black paint to make it look even more
athletic.
The design of the new Q70 continues to offer enhanced
airflow over the body, resulting in zero front and rear lift as well as a
low coefficient of drag of just 0.26 for the hybrid, 0.27 for the
standard version and 0.28 for the Sport model.
Premium quality, detailed craftsmanship
Reflecting
the sensuous lines of the exterior, the new Infiniti Q70 continues to
serve up a well-appointed and inviting interior with high-quality
materials such as handcrafted wood accents and custom leather
appointments, meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, as well
as user-centered technologies.
Infiniti has always paid special
attention to the driver and, in the new Q70, the interior is designed to
"fit like a glove", so that the carefully tailored and crafted cockpit
becomes an extension of the driver. Important controls and switches are
so intuitively located that the driver does not have to change driving
posture to access them.
The instrument panel consists of Fine
Vision gauges and a 7-inch full color vehicle information display, while
the driver and front passenger's seats are leather, heated, and feature
10-way power adjustment, including 2-way lumbar support.
While
the Q70 is known to have a roomy interior, the additional 5.9 inches in
the long wheelbase version takes the extended sedan's rear roominess
beyond what competitors offer. Rear knee room is at a best-in-class 32.4
inches, so rear seat passengers can comfortably cross their legs. The
rear ingress and egress are also top in segment, which makes traveling
in the back of a premium sedan a more enjoyable experience for taller
passengers.
On top of offering rear door auto closure, the long
wheelbase version of the new Q70 also provides additional features for
rear passengers such as heated seats, reading lights, and a 12V power
outlet.
The new Q70 is now quieter than before, even at high
speeds. Infiniti engineers have added noise insulation materials,
increased the sealing, and stiffened the wheels, resulting in a
reduction of road noise on urban roads. The isolation feel at highway
speeds on the long wheelbase version is a class-leading 77%, further
cementing the Q70's lead ahead of competitors.
Contributing to the
cultivated in-car atmosphere, the Active Noise Control feature monitors
cabin noise levels and generates "canceling" sound from four door
speakers to reduce noise, so it's easier to hold conversations in the
car or to better enjoy the music. Premium audio systems include the
Bose® Studio Surround® sound system with digital 5.1-channel decoding
and 16 speakers, two of which are mounted in the shoulders of each front
seat.
Other features include Enhanced Intelligent Key, which
remembers last used audio, navigation and climate control settings for
each key, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, dual-zone automatic
temperature control, and available next-generation Infiniti Hard Drive
Navigation System with 8-inch WVGA color touch-screen display. Building
on Infiniti's focus to make owners' lives easier, the Q70 comes with
Infiniti Connection™ telematics services, which include the Infiniti
Personal Assistant™, a 24/7 personal concierge service.
Intelligent performance, composed comfort
Staying
true to its roots of sporty precision, the new Q70 is the result of
methodical calibration by Infiniti engineers who have utilized smart
technologies to achieve the exact balance of ride comfort and handling,
performance and fuel economy.
A range of powerful and highly
efficient powertrains is available, starting with the 3.7-liter V6 and
5.6-liter V8 petrol engines, both of which are equipped with Variable
Valve Event & Lift (VVEL®) that combines hydraulic-controlled
variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift
on the intake side to help improve performance and response.
The
refined 3.7-liter aluminum-alloy DOHC 24-valve V6 is rated at 330 hp @
7,000 rpm and 366 Nm (270 lb/ft) of torque @ 5,200 rpm, while the
powerful 5.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) aluminum-alloy DOHC
32-valve V8 is rated at 420 hp and 565 Nm (417 lb/ft) of torque for the
standard model and 416 hp and 561 Nm (414 lb/ft) of torque for the long
wheelbase version.
Also available is an award-winning hybrid
powertrain featuring the Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid® system with
Intelligent Dual Clutch Control.
It combines a 3.5-liter 24-valve
DOHC aluminum-alloy V6 and compact laminated lithium-ion battery design
with an innovative one-motor/two-clutch motor control. The system's V6
is rated at 302 hp @ 6,800 rpm and 350 Nm (258 lb/ft) of torque @ 5,000
rpm, while the advanced 50 kW electric motor is rated at 67 hp and 290
Nm (214 lb/ft) of torque. Infiniti's approach to petrol-electric hybrids
is to use the electric motor to boost performance and power, much like
how a traditional supercharger would function. This gives the Q70 an
immediate surge of torque in the low revs before the 3.5-liter V6 kicks
in to push the overall power output to 360 hp.
This hybrid
powertrain propelled the then Infiniti M® Hybrid into the Guinness World
of Records® as the world's fastest accelerating full-hybrid car in
September 2011, and went on to be the only hybrid named to the
prestigious "Ward's 10 Best Engines" list in 2012. Billed as a "driver's
hybrid", the powertrain delivers speeds that appeal to the sporty
driver, and clean power that pleases everyone.
All the engines are
matched to an advanced 7-speed automatic transmission, which allows for
sportier shifts during spirited driving. Solid magnesium paddle
shifters are also available. Customers can choose between rear-wheel
drive or Infiniti's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, which uses an
advanced torque split control strategy that automatically redistributes
torque to the wheels according to road and driving conditions, ensuring
sure-footed road holding at all times
In line with the focus on
the driver, the new Q70 features technologies that enable individuals to
customize the driving feel. The unique Infiniti Drive Mode Selector
allows drivers to select from four driving modes - Standard, Eco, Sport
or Snow - and the integrated control system will adjust throttle
sensitivity and transmission mapping to help optimize performance. To
encourage eco-driving behavior, the available Eco Pedal provides
feedback directly through the accelerator by giving a slight pushback if
driving inefficiently.
The new Q70 utilizes the advanced Front
Mid-ship (FM) platform, which positions the engine behind the front
axle, resulting in an optimized front-to-rear weight balance. Laser
welding is carried out at critical locations to help enhance lateral
bending stiffness, torsional stiffness and suspension mounting point
stiffness.
Precise handling is provided by an independent
double-wishbone design at the front and multi-link independent
suspension in the rear, along with front and rear stabilizer bars. The
rear suspension geometry has been designed to provide a quiet,
comfortable ride. The available double-piston shock absorbers control
damping force according to the frequency of input from the road surface
for a smoother ride. To increase ride comfort on the new Q70, Infiniti
engineers have further tweaked the shock absorbers to respond with
greater precision to inconsistences in the road surface so as to
minimize uncomfortable "shaking and bobbing" as well as reduce the
vibrations when driving on uneven roads.
The steering system on
the new Q70 is an electronically controlled speed-sensitive
variable-assist power rack-and-pinion design. Helping the driver to
maintain control of the vehicle at all times is Infiniti's advanced
Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System. The available
Active Trace Control feature also adjusts engine torque and braking at
each wheel to help enhance cornering performance.
Advanced safety, trusted security
Infiniti
places maximum value on integral safety, going above and beyond the
measures assessed by safety institutions. A core element of that
strategy is the Infiniti Safety Shield®, a comprehensive approach to
safety that offers layered technologies to help provide safety and
convenience by monitoring conditions, helping drivers avoid a collision,
and helping protect vehicle occupants if one occurs.
Infiniti
adds four innovative technologies to the Q70's long list of safety and
security systems, which are available depending on the series.
The
new Predictive Forward Collision Warning system, which debuted on the
Q50 and warns the drivers of risks that lie beyond the driver's field of
view, can sense not only the relative velocity and distance of a
vehicle directly ahead, but also of a vehicle traveling in front of the
preceding one.
Another advanced technology is the Around View®
Monitor system, which takes the hassle out of parallel parking. The
feature shows a bird's-eye view of the vehicle in relation to parking
lines, using four vehicle-mounted cameras that create a 360-degree view
of what surrounds the vehicle and displaying it via the in-dash screen.
The system includes Moving Object Detection which alerts the driver to
moving objects around the vehicle when pulling out of a parking space or
backing up.
Adding another layer of safety, the Backup Collision
Intervention® system is a pioneering technology which intelligently
senses what the driver may miss when backing up, and can apply the
brakes momentarily to help avoid a collision with vehicles and objects
crossing its path.
Forward Emergency Braking detects danger of
collision with a vehicle ahead and warns the driver with visual and
audible warnings. If the driver fails to decelerate, the system will
apply an emergency brake and decelerate to either help avoid a collision
or mitigate the damage if the collision could not be avoided.
Other
safety and driver assist systems continue to give the driver and
passengers peace of mind. Both the Lane Departure Warning and Lane
Departure Prevention (LDP) systems help keep the Q70 from
unintentionally drifting into an adjacent lane in case the driver is
distracted. Using a small camera behind the windshield to detect lane
markers ahead, the technologies calculate the vehicle's position
relative to those lane markers and warn the driver of a potential
unintended lane departure with visual and audible cues. If the driver
does not steer the vehicle back toward the center of the lane, the LDP
system assists the driver with a gentle application of brakes.
The
driver will also have greater confidence when changing lanes with two
technologies that target the blind spots. Blind Spot Warning helps alert
the driver to vehicles detected in the blind spot area, while Blind
Spot Intervention® actively intervenes by selectively braking if the
driver ignores both visual and audible warnings and attempts to steer
into the path of the vehicle in the blind spot.
Other safety
features such as Intelligent Cruise Control and Distance Control Assist
take the stress out of driving so the driver can arrive at his
destination relaxed.
"The new Q70 is a no-compromise premium
sedan," said Gillet. "It pushes every boundary in performance and
comfort, delivering a drive that's exhilarating and rewarding every
time."
Subaru WRX STI
Subaru of America, Inc. introduced the all-new 2015 Subaru WRX STI, Subaru's iconic performance flagship model, at the 2014 North American International Auto Show. Subaru will offer a WRX STI Launch Edition, limited to 1,000 units and exclusively featuring WR Blue paint and gold BBS® forged alloy wheels and unique interior trim
Powered by the
legendary 305-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER engine, the 2015
WRX STI debuts a new four-door wide-body design, built on a stiffer
chassis for even greater handling agility and precision. The Subaru WRX
STI provides a rally-bred drivetrain and all-wheel drive handling that
is unique to this model. Handling is enhanced with a stiffer chassis,

upgraded and roomier cabin. A driver-focused interior remains integral
to the WRX STI performance character, with the new model debuting a
motorsports-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel and new
whiplash-reducing performance-design front seats with height and
tilt-adjustable head restraints. A wide array of new user technologies
include, for the first time in a Subaru WRX STI, availability of a
harman/kardon® premium audio system
Iconic STI Design Exclusively in Sedan Form
A
bolder front design makes the 2015 WRX STI look ready to devour the
road. The "nose-cone" configuration combines the grille and bumper cap
into one unit ahead of the hood, which for the 2015 model is made from
aluminum to reduce weight over the front of the car. Narrower
headlights, designed to evoke a raptor's stare, flank the Subaru
hexagonal grille. It's a more powerful stare thanks to new standard LED
low-beam headlights.
The special hood, fenders, doors and
quarters, bumpers, headlights and taillight clusters convey the Subaru
WRX STI identity. As on previous WRX STI models, a functional hood scoop
supplies the intercooler with fresh air, and in the 2015 model it is
set more deeply into the hood to provide better forward visibility.
Other
new performance-oriented details include foglight surrounds with a
carbon fiber-like pattern and front fender vents that feature a mesh
screen. A full aerodynamic body package includes the large trunk spoiler
that has been a WRX STI signature feature. A rear diffuser, LED
taillights and LED center high-mount stop lamp (CHMSL) leave a
distinctive signature.
New, Stiffer Chassis for Greater Handling Agility
The
2015 Subaru WRX STI body structure makes greater use of high-tensile
steel than the previous model and features special stiffening elements
at key locations. The stiffer chassis helps yield a super-quick steering
response that was benchmarked against top-handling sports cars. The
13.0:1 steering ratio provides a quick 2.5 turns lock-to-lock compared
to 14.5:1 and 2.8 for the standard WRX model.
As on previous WRX
STI models, the 2015 version uses an exclusive inverted-strut front
suspension system that provides higher levels of cornering agility.
Aluminum front lower L-arms reduce unsprung vehicle weight. The
STI-tuned suspension teams with standard 18-inch wheels and 245/40R18
summer performance tires, with the WRX STI Launch Edition and WRX STI
Limited models featuring BBS® forged aluminum-alloy wheels.
305-hp Turbo BOXER Engine
The
2015 Subaru WRX STI is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged/intercooled
4-cylinder BOXER engine that employs the Dual Active Valve Control
System (Dual AVCS). The engine, which is exclusive to the STI model,
produces 305 horsepower (SAE) at 6,000 rpm and 290 lb.-ft. of peak
torque at 4,000 rpm.
The WRX STI engine is teamed exclusively with
a specially reinforced 6-speed manual transmission, which includes an
STI short-throw shifter in the Launch Edition model. Incline Start
Assist can momentarily prevent the car from rolling backward when being
driven away from a stop on an incline.
The Subaru Intelligent
Drive (SI-DRIVE) powertrain management system allows the driver to
tailor the car's driving characteristics by choosing from among three
selectable modes - "Intelligent," "Sport" and "Sport Sharp" - using a
rotary dial on the center console. SI-DRIVE alters vehicle performance
characteristics by regulating the engine control module and by
fine-tuning the electronic throttle control system.
Multi-Mode DCCD All-Wheel Drive with Three-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control
The
2015 WRX STI is exclusively equipped with the Multi-Mode Driver
Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) version of Subaru Symmetrical
All-Wheel Drive. This sophisticated system uses planetary-type center
differential gears with a nominal 41:59 torque split. A mechanical
limited-slip type center differential augments an electronically
controlled center differential to enhance torque transfer performance.
Sensor
inputs that include steering angle, throttle position, RPM, lateral-g,
yaw, brake, ABS and wheel speed govern torque transfer response. A
helical-type limited-slip front differential and a TORSEN®
torque-sensing limited-slip rear differential optimize side-to-side
torque distribution.
The DCCD AWD system features three automatic
modes, each using varying degrees of center differential locking to
match different driving situations. In manual mode, the driver can
select one of six center differential locking levels to suit the driving
situation.
Active Torque Vectoring, an enhancement of the
Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) stability and traction control
system, can apply brake pressure to the inside front wheel to
facilitate more neutral cornering. The VDC system offers yet more driver
choices, with three settings: "VDC Normal," "Traction" and "Off." Each
provides respectively lesser degrees of system engagement, allowing the
driver to tailor response for the driving situation. Active Torque
Vectoring remains engaged for "Normal" and "Traction" modes.
Premium Cabin
A
one-inch longer wheelbase than the previous Subaru WRX STI helps
provide a roomier cabin in the new model. The windshield is more raked
than before, with the A-pillar pulled forward nearly eight inches at the
base for better forward visibility, aided by a lower dashboard and
narrower A-pillars. Lower side sills and wider-opening doors make
ingress/egress easier. Rear seat legroom is increased by nearly two
inches, and trunk capacity is now 12 cu. ft., up from 11.3 cu. ft. in
the previous WRX STI sedan. A standard 60/40-split fold-down rear seat
extends versatility. New available Welcome Lighting responds to the
driver approaching the car.
In the 2015 WRX STI, the driver grips a
new flat-bottom, leather-wrapped tilt/telescoping steering wheel that
integrates switches for audio and Bluetooth control. The STI Design
electroluminescent gauge panel gets a new 3.5-in. central LCD screen
that displays various functions, including low-level warnings for oil
and windshield washer fluid and the selected gear.
Rich-looking
appointments and details abound, including soft-touch materials for the
dashboard, door trim and center console armrest. A new multi-information
central display with 4.3-in. LCD screen provides a multitude of vehicle
system functions, including a standard rear camera display, a boost
gauge display, audio (on non-navigation models), Bluetooth and climate
control settings, and a VDC screen showing traction control operation.
The display can also provide a vehicle self-check and maintenance
reminder.
Standard features for the 2015 Subaru WRX STI include
dual-zone automatic climate control and the All-Weather Package
(dual-mode heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and windshield
wiper de-icer). The new standard audio system combines AM/FM stereo with
HD Radio®, a single-disc in-dash CD player, 6 speakers, MP3/WMA
capability, Radio Data Broadcast System (RDBS), Bluetooth hands-free
calling and audio streaming, iPod® control capability, iTunes® Tagging,
SiriusXM® Satellite Radio (subscription required), USB port and a 3.5mm
auxiliary audio input jack. Numerous compartments located in and around
the center console hold phones, USB drives and MP3 players.
An
available touch-screen navigation system displays on a 6.1-inch LCD
screen and offers voice controls. The Subaru WRX STI Limited model adds
the luxury of leather-trimmed upholstery, an 8-way power driver's seat,
the harman/kardon premium audio system and a power moonroof that opens
one inch farther than on the previous model.
Alfa Romeo 4C Spider
In Detroit at NAIAS company unveiled Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 2015, which is
basically a sports car with improved characteristics. It is said that
many vehicle for young people. Well, this is exactly but it does not
hurt to be a little older and a transit with this vehicle. If you want a
complete delight, the adrenaline and the wind in your hair then this is
the right choice for you. We will try to bring you closer to this car
as much as possible. We will start by design in any particular order and
up to the interior.
When it comes to design, we have to say that compared to the standard
variant differs primarily a removable canvas roof and new side air
intake vents. Also, there are a few new features like attractive lights,
rear LED lights, small dressing aero package, new cooling openings in
the hood. In addition, customers will be offered new sets of alloy
wheels in size between 17 and 19 inches, brake calipers will come in
several colors, and the choice would stand seven exterior colors and six
interior color combinations with a choice of two upholstery material.
It is also important to mention the new yellow color called Giallo.
Engine of 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider
We have seen how this model looks and now is the time to take a peek
under the hood to see what is it that drives this machine. We have to
mention the part to remove the roof which gave 10 kg in weight more,
which is not much. So that this model should be very agile and pivotable
as well as its coupe version. Of course, motorization has not changed,
that this model runs the same 4-cylinder turbocharged 1.75-liter engine
240 horsepower and a maximum torque of 350 Nm.
Thanks to the gearbox six-speed automatic that has two connectors, this
engine transmits the speed or power to the wheels and thus a top speed
of 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 258 km/h. Based on this,
we can say that the results are the same with those of the coupe.
Release Date and Price
The implementation of Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 2015 model is expected later this year, sometime in the summer and then it will be known and the actual price. It is assumed that the price will be different from the previous version or buy the model.
Mazda MX-5 Accessories Design Concept
The
only thing better than the all-new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a
personalized 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata. At the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, where
the first-generation MX-5 Miata was introduced to the world in 1989,
Mazda revealed an MX-5 accessories design concept of the next-generation
roadster that will hit showrooms in the summer of 2015.
"There is
so much MX-5 history at the Chicago Auto Show, and we wanted to
continue building on that," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO,
Mazda North American Operations. "The MX-5 is the soul of our company,
and its enthusiast following both inside and outside of Mazda drives us
to keep innovating new ideas for it and the rest of our lineup."
Painted
Ceramic Metallic, the 2016 MX-5 accessories concept will be on display
from Thursday, February 12 through Sunday, February 22 and includes an
Aero Kit, BBS Wheels and Brembo Brakes as well as a Luggage Rack shown
separately in Mazda's display. MX-5 concept accessories include:
- Aero Kit (Front Air Dam, Side Sill Extensions, Rear Bumper Skirt and Rear Lip Spoiler): The gloss-black Aero Kit is the same package found on the 2016 MX-5 Global Cup Car that debuted at 2014 SEMA.
- Brembo Brakes: Lightweight Brembo front brakes adorn the MX-5 as well as red brake calipers behind all four wheels.
- BBS Wheels: The forged black BBS wheels are sized 17x7J 45mm offset, wrapped in 205/45R17 tires.
- Luggage Rack: The stylish luggage rack is made of carbon fiber and weighs less than two pounds. The luggage rack mounts to the trunk and includes an integrated Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL).
The 2016
MX-5 has evolved to meet the needs of today's customers, yet it retains
the pure fun-to-drive nature of its predecessors, whether cruising on
the highway or the racetrack. With the new roadster, Mazda's engineers
sought to capture the essence of the beloved first-generation MX-5
Miata, reducing overall length of the 2016 model by 4.1 inches to make
it about the same size of the original. Engineers also reduced the
MX-5's weight by about 150 pounds versus the outgoing car, lightening
and strengthening even the smallest parts.
Power for U.S.-bound
MX-5s comes from Mazda's 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G inline four-cylinder
engine, producing 155 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. Both
SKYACTIV-MT and SKYACTIV-DRIVE six-speed automatic transmissions will be
available.
